Zenvoices is strong on automation rules, and that is exactly where it also stops. Which alternatives exist, what they really cost, and when you simply stay.

Zenvoices is one of the strongest invoice capture tools on Exact Online and AFAS. AI recognition at line level, a large library of automation rules set centrally and applied across administrations, per administration or even per relation, and explicit support for running multiple administrations from one place. There is a public API with purchase order endpoints, an app for receipts and approvals, and authorisation, matching and payments can be bought on top.
If you can write your process out in advance, this takes you a long way. People looking for an alternative usually do so for one of three reasons.

Why finance teams look for an alternative
1. The automation rules are the strength and the limit at once
The rules do what you configured, not what you meant. Every new situation, every new supplier and every exception is a rule someone has to invent, enter and later maintain.
With a stable supplier base that pays off: you set it up once and it runs. With variation, you become the administrator of your own configuration, and that work is in nobody's job description.
The test we use in every conversation with a team coming off a rule library: when your team corrects a booking, does the same correction come back next month? With a rule library the answer is yes, unless someone changed the rule.
2. The bill has four parts
The subscription starts at € 29 per month for Basis, with € 75 for Pro and € 161 for Compleet. Variable costs come on top, charged in arrears based on the number of users, administrations and processed invoices.
Two things the entry price does not signal.
An invoice is not always one invoice. Zenvoices counts one processed invoice per five pages, up to twenty per document. So a twelve-page invoice counts as three. If your suppliers send long specifications, your invoice count is higher than you think.
Not every user costs money, but most do. Submission users and archive users are free. Give someone more rights and they automatically count as a full user, and monthly charges start. For a team where approvers genuinely work in the system, that adds up.
Neither is hidden; both are on their own pages. But it does mean the € 29 entry rate is rarely what you pay. Work it out for your own number of invoices, pages per invoice, approvers and administrations before you compare. At Claridy we run this calculation for every team coming off Zenvoices, and the pages per invoice are almost always the line nobody had budgeted for.
3. The matching is good, and it stops where the work starts
This deserves a compliment first, because the Zenvoices matching is better than most in this category. The purchase-to-pay module checks per line whether the invoice price matches the order, and whether the invoiced quantity matches both the ordered quantity and the warehouse receipts. That is a genuine three-way match, and the tolerances are configurable in both directions, per unit rather than on the line total.
Two things stop.
The matching does not run on every ERP. The module works on Exact Online, Exact Globe, SAP Business One and KING ERP. On AFAS you get the base product and not the matching.
The difference is flagged, not resolved. When a line does not agree, the invoice is marked as incorrect and goes into the approval flow or back to your team. What has to happen next is the real work: establishing whether this is a price deviation, a partial delivery or a duplicate invoice, emailing the supplier, requesting the credit note. That is in no module.
The same goes for the invoice mailbox. Zenvoices documents seven modules: document splitting, authorisation management, payments, payment discounts, document management, purchase to pay, and upload categories. A mailbox that handles supplier questions is not among them, and neither is bank reconciliation.
None of this is a verdict on Zenvoices. It is the boundary of a category we call the second generation: capture software automates the reading and the preparation according to your rules, and what remains is the work that needs judgement.
Claridy: the alternative from a different category
Claridy (generation 3: the intelligent action layer), measured by the same standard. The difference can be tested with one question: what happens to the invoice that does not match? With every tool above, a task is created for a human. With Claridy that task is created for the agent first, which works out why the difference is there and what has to happen about it. Only if that fails does it reach your team, with the preparation done.
The difference with Zenvoices sits exactly in reason 1: you do not write a rule library, you explain in plain language how things should be processed. Beyond that: line-level three-way matching, and coding that learns from your own corrections, because a correction becomes a rule itself. Runs on Exact Online, NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics 365, and that last one is the sharpest distinction on this page: not one of the capture tools above runs on NetSuite.
Claridy keeps no books of its own. It reads from your ERP and writes back to it, and what it remembers is rules and decisions, not balances. Switch it off and your books are exactly as they were. That is the difference between a layer and a lock-in, and on a page about switching that is the question you should put to every vendor here.
Price: € 499 per month flat, three-way matching € 250 per month extra, no price per invoice, per document or per user, cancellable monthly.1 Where it stops: below roughly a hundred invoices a month there is too little repetition to learn from, and then Zenvoices is cheaper.

One thing stands out reading the ERP column top to bottom: this market is built on Exact. If you are on NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics 365, most of the category drops out before you get to features. Claridy runs on all three, and for some readers of this page that is the only thing that matters.
Features and prices checked against the vendors' own sites and help centres on 2026-08-13. Basecone and WhiteVision have no public price list.
More context on the three generations of technology and all vendors: the comparison guide to accounts payable software. What Claridy itself does with the purchase invoice, from mailbox to payment preparation, is on Procure to Pay; the price is on the pricing page.
When you simply stay with Zenvoices
Do you have a stable supplier base, little variation in what needs booking, and someone who enjoys maintaining the rule library? Then you get more out of Zenvoices than out of most software in this category, and switching is mostly hassle.
If you run on Exact Online or Exact Globe and need order matching, the purchase-to-pay module is a serious option that checks against both the order and the warehouse receipts. Most vendors in this category cannot do that, and it is a reason to stay rather than a reason to leave.
An alternative pays off only when one of the three reasons above costs structural time: when you put more hours into rules than they return, when the bill lands somewhere other than you budgeted, or when the exceptions coming out of the matching fill your week.
Frequently asked questions
There is no best alternative, only a best alternative for your particular complaint. Simpler approval flows on Exact: Blue10. More predictable price: TriFact365. Twinfield firm: Basecone. Order-line matching, certainly in construction: WhiteVision. A system that learns instead of you writing rules: Claridy.
The subscription starts at € 29 per month for Basis, with € 75 for Pro and € 161 for Compleet, plus variable costs in arrears based on users, administrations and processed invoices. Watch two things: one processed invoice is counted per five pages, up to twenty per document, and submission and archive users are free while anyone with more rights counts as a full user.
Yes, with the purchase-to-pay module, and it is a genuine three-way match: price against the order, and quantity against both the order and the warehouse receipts, with tolerances configurable per unit. Two limits: the module works on Exact Online, Exact Globe, SAP Business One and KING ERP, so not on AFAS, and a difference is flagged and passed to a person rather than investigated.
No. There is a payment module, but it runs the other way: you create a payment file, download it and upload it yourself into your bank's environment. There is no bank connection. Reconciliation means applying bank transactions to open items, and that is not among the documented modules. For that you look in a different category.
Not according to the documented modules. Zenvoices names seven: document splitting, authorisation management, payments, payment discounts, document management, purchase to pay, and upload categories. Supplier questions about payment status, promised credit notes and explained price differences stay with your team.
Of the capture tools on this page, only Blue10 connects to NetSuite, and that is a connection for delivering invoices. Zenvoices runs on Exact and AFAS, TriFact365 on Exact, AFAS, SnelStart, King and Twinfield, Basecone on Twinfield and Exact, ScanSys on more than sixty systems including Dynamics 365, and Elvy on the broadest list including Business Central. For NetSuite and Dynamics 365 Finance you end up with Medius or with Claridy. Claridy runs reading and writing back on Exact Online, NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics 365, without anything migrating.
